good beer week 2017
Our favourite week of the year is fast approaching!! Good Beer Week is nearly upon us.
We're taking it back to basics this year, with our weeklong event "Good Beer- No Borders, No Boundaries", featuring our favourites from some of the best local and international breweries.
Throughout the week, we'll be hosting a number of unticketed parties with 7 cent, Balter, Stone + Wood, Moo Brew and Lagunitas - all of which will be cracking nights.
See below for more details, and keep your ears out for any surprises...
7 cent party
monday may 15
We're excited to kick off our events for the week with our good friends from 7 cent.
The GNH crew recently got together with the 7 cent boys for a Good Beer Week collaboration brew. We may not have helped out much, but it was a great day hanging out with beer and mates. And this is the experience we hope to bring to all of you! 7 cent will provide the epic beers, the comfy couches, and the beer talk, and the GNH crew will probably not do much... again. But we welcome everyone to join in a great night of not doing much - just drink some bloody good beer on some funky couches with us.
Who knows, you might even come in contact with that famous belly button fluff...
tuesday may 16
We had so much fun with Balter last year, that we're doing it all again!
The Balter Crew will be descending upon the beer garden once again, taking over the back bar with both new and core range beers, and of course, the humble tinnies.
There'll be a chance to win Beer for a Year, and a chance for a spot in the epic Tins of Glory competition, which they'll be hosting the following night. The night will be full of tunes, tins, and talks, and the support of local community projects.
With Enjoyment. What more can we say.
stone & wood party
wednesday may 17
Haven't made it up to Byron Bay yet? No matter. Byron Bay is coming to you.
Wednesday night will see the beer garden be transformed into Byron's 'back yard' - good tunes, good beer, and the good people from Stone & Wood floating around talking shop and hanging out. If you missed the Garden Parties back in February and March, this will be the time to come down and get the Stone & Wood Experience - chat to the friendly crew, drink beer, and play a few games of cornhole.
Do yourself a favour, and check out the amazing mural adorning the wall of the laneway to the beer garden. Recently completed by French street artist Choq, this mural depicts all things Stone & Wood, and Byron Bay. We're stoked to have such talent splashed on our walls, and to have that extra link to our friends up north.
What's different about this party? Stone & Wood have been working on some pilot batches, and for the first time, these fresh new beers will be brought south and launched at the Great Northern Hotel. We're excited to see four of these pilot brews land for the party, in time for you all to give them a try, and tell the crew what you think.
Keep your ears to the ground for news about which beers are making their way down south...
moo brew party
friday may 19
The ultimate Moo Brew Party is coming to the Great Northern, complete with a few touches from MONA. Think fire, beer, and art.
Tassie takes over the beer garden, in a throwback to the epic parties hosted at the GNH on the Friday of Good Beer Week. Providing a spectacle of fire and brimstone, as well as smoking delicious meats, will be MONA's infamous Wall of Fire and the full Metal Kitchen, piloted by MONA's chef Vinnie, the Master himself. We'll have a cracking DJ spinning tunes on the decks all night, and hints of MONA littered around the beer garden.
And of course, there will be plenty of tasty brews from one of our favourite Aussie breweries. If we know Moo Brew, they're bound to be pretty special.
saturday may 20
The ship has left the port, and for the first time, it will be here on time!!
The Mighty Lagunitas is coming back to our shores, and we're celebrating the return! All those classic styles you've mourned for the past few months will be once again pouring, as well as some others we've kept secret and safe in our own personal library. Unless you've been to the brewery itself, you won't have seen these beers before!
Bring your dogs and your drinking boots. It's gonna be an all-day event, and it's gonna be big.
